I'm sitting in my apartment in Budapest, listening to the rain which is pouring down, and is thinking of that day when I took this picture back home in Copenhagen. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and even though I should have been studying for my exams I grabbed my camera and went to the botanical garden to enjoy and to photograph all the fantastic shapes and colours of the flowers - what a great day.
Perhaps I'm starting to feel a bit homesick, but I know it's common when you have staying in another country for some time. In the beginning everything is exiting and different, but after 7-8 weeks away from home you are getting annoyed and irritated. You want things to function just like in your home country and don't understand why they do things in a certain way. Being a Dane, I'm used to efficiency, "time is money", structure, transparency etc., but the society in Hungary is different - bureaucracy is still a big part of their everyday life, and I don't have the patience to deal with that ;)
The important thing to have in mind is that this feeling will, hopefully, go away and don't give up. I won't give up because despite of the bureaucracy in Budapest I really like this place - I've found places that you would never find in Denmark, I've met the most dearest and sweetest people, I've have really interesting courses at the university and it's so cheap here that I can live like a queen!
Perhaps I can find a similar flower here in Budapest that will give me the same joyous feeling like the this one?
